How You Say It Matters
The Communications Policy ensures that all interactions within the LightStars Academy community:
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Facilitate clear and efficient exchange of information.
- Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality.

Where You Say It Matters
This policy applies to all communication channels used by LightStars Academy, including:
- Course discussion boards
- Messaging within the learning management system (LMS)
- Video conferencing (e.g., live classes, meetings)
- Official social media platforms
General Guidelines
All members of the LightStars Academy community are expected to:
- Be Respectful– Use polite and considerate language in all interactions. Harassment, discrimination, or bullying will not be tolerated.
- Be Clear– Communicate with clarity and ensure messages are relevant and appropriate to the topic or audience.
- Respond Promptly– Aim to respond to messages or inquiries within 48 hours on school days.
- Maintain Privacy–Do not share personal information of others without consent.
Student Communication Expectations
With Instructors:
- Use the designated LMS messaging system or email for academic inquiries.
- Address instructors respectfully, using proper titles unless instructed otherwise.
With Peers:
- Collaborate professionally on discussion boards, group projects, and other class activities.
- Refrain from sharing non-academic content in academic forums.
Parent/Guardian Communication Expectations
- Direct all inquiries or concerns to the appropriate staff member (e.g., instructor, student support team).
- Respect instructors’ working hours; refrain from contacting them outside designated times unless it is an emergency.
- Use the LMS parent portal to monitor student progress and access updates.
Instructor and Staff Communication Expectations
- Provide timely feedback and updates on coursework, grading, and other academic matters.
- Communicate clearly about expectations, deadlines, and policies in course syllabi or announcements.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions with students and parents/guardians.
Official Communications from LightStars Academy
All official announcements (e.g., updates, policy changes, event notifications) will be shared through:
- The LMS platform.
- The registered email address on file.
- LightStars Academy’s official website.
Use of Social Media
- Social media platforms may be used to share general updates, promote events, and celebrate achievements.
- Personal grievances, disputes, or confidential matters must not be discussed on social media.
- All posts and interactions on LightStars Academy’s official accounts must adhere to this policy and align with the academy’s values.
Prohibited Communication Behaviors
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Use of offensive, discriminatory, or abusive language.
- Spamming or sharing irrelevant content.
- Sharing misleading or false information.
- Sharing an image you did not create yourself.
